- Darkwood Dub ist eine 1988 in Belgrad gegründete Electronica-Gruppe, die in der Ursprungsbesetzung Dejan Vučetić, den Frontsänger und Texter, den Gitarristen Vladimir "Vlidi" Jerić und Milorad "Miki" Ristić als Bassisten umfasste. Der Gitarrist Bojan "Bambi" Drobac and Lav Bratuša an der Perkussion stießen zu Beginn der 90er zur Gruppe. Darkwood Dubs Musik ist durch weiche Basslinien, einem Mix aus Schlagzeug und elektronischen Drumcomputern und hervorstechenden Synthesizern gekennzeichnet. In ihrer Anfangszeit experimentierten Darkwood Dub mit Reggae-Beats, aber in der Folge wandten sie sich mehr und mehr einer markanten Melange aus Trip-Hop und Rock zu. Durchgängig sind die intensiven Texte Markenzeichen der Band. 1996 wurden sie von der Musikpresse in Serbien-Montenegro fast einstimmig zur besten jugoslawischen Musikgruppe gewählt. In the years after the formation the band gradually grew to prominence on the Serbian rock scene, eventually becoming one of the most notable acts of the 1990s and 2000s Serbian and regional scene. Their music spawned many different genres. It was characterized by a mixture of live drumming and electronic percussion with frequent use of slide guitar, synthesizers and samplers and succinct and introspective lyrics, sung with offbeat vocals of Dejan Vučetić. The band cooperated with a number of musicians—most notably prominent jazz musicians and Bisera Veletanlić—and composed scores for several films and theatre plays. The group released eight studio albums before disbanding in 2017. (en)
