The Daily Herald was a British daily newspaper, published in London from 1912 to 1964 (although it was weekly during the First World War). It was published in the interest of the labour movement and supported the Labour Party. It underwent several changes of management before ceasing publication in 1964, when it was relaunched as The Sun, in its pre-Murdoch form.

Un des récipendaires fut, en 1952, l'officier de marine marchande Kenneth Dancy, second du remorquer de Haute mer Turmoil qui prit un risque énorme lors de la très mouvementée tentative de sauvetage du cargo Flying Entreprise en sautant acrobatiquement d'un navire à l'autre malgré une mer agitée, afin de prêter main-forte au capitaine Enrik Carlsen, resté seul à bord de son navire, et assurer la mise en place du câble de remorque.
