Cotaena tchalla is a species of sedge moth in the genus Cotaena. It was described by Jae-Cheon Sohn and John B. Heppner in 2015. It is found in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The length of the forewings is about 10.7 mm. The forewings are dark brown, with a purplish or bluish luster and a dark grayish-brown fringe. The hindwings are dark brown, paler anteromarginally.
