- Cornel Lucas (12 September 1920 – 8 November 2012) was a British photographer, who as a film still photographer was a pioneer of film portraiture in the 1940s and 1950s. He was the first photographer to win a BAFTA in 1998 for Services to British Film Industry. Cornel Lucas published two books of his work, Heads and Tales and Shooting Stars. Exhibited internationally. Permanent collection at National Portrait Gallery (London), National Media Museum and London's Photographers' Gallery Cornel Lucas photographed many movies stars in the late forties and fifties including Marlene Dietrich, David Niven, Gregory Peck, Robert Newton, Joan Collins, Yvonne de Carlo, Diana Dors (in a gondola in Venice). He was in charge of the photographic studios set up by the Rank Organisation. (en)

Lucas bracht twee boeken uit over zijn werk: "Heads and Tales" en "Shooting Stars". Zijn werk is wereldwijd te zien op fototentoonstellingen. Bijvoorbeeld in de National Portrait Gallery in Londen , National Media Museum en "Photographers' Gallery" in Londen. Lucas legde veel filmsterren vast op de foto met name in de jaren 40 en 50 zoals David Niven, Gregory Peck, Leslie Caron, Joan Collins, Brigitte Bardot, Diana Dors (in een gondel in Venetië). Maar ook Raquel Welch, Ben Kingsley, Steven Spielberg, Howard Keel, Lauren Bacall en Jill Ireland. Hij was directeur van de fotostudios van "The Rank Organisation". Hij trouwde in 1954 met model en actrice , van wie hij vijf jaar later scheidde. In 1959 hertrouwde hij met actrice Susan Travers. (nl)
