- The New Conservative Party (NCP) was the name of two now-defunct political parties in Japan. The first of the two parties was founded on April 3, 2000 by 21 lower house and 6 upper house defectors from the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ). It was then dissolved on December 23, 2002. A new party of the same name (保守新党 Hoshu Shintō) was then founded on December 25, 2002 by , also a defector from the DPJ. The party eventually merged with the Liberal Democratic Party after the 2003 election. (en)

Kumagai y otros tres miembros del Partido Democrático de Japón renunciaron en diciembre de 2002 y se unieron con el , formando el Nuevo Partido Conservador. Fue un partido conservador reformista de derecha. Luego de la , el Nuevo Partido Conservador obtuvo solamente 4 escaños en la Cámara de Representantes, descendiendo de los 9 previos a la elección. Entre los perdedores estuvo el presidente del partido, Hiroshi Kumagai. El 10 de noviembre de 2003, el Primer Ministro Junichiro Koizumi propuso que el partido se uniera con el Partido Liberal Democrático. El Secretario General del Nuevo Partido Conservador, confirmó la unión el mismo día.
