- كونغرس جمهورية الدومينيكان (بالإسبانية: Congreso de la República Dominicana) هو الهيئة التشريعية في جمهورية الدومينيكان، يتكون من المجلس الأعلى الذي يضم 32 مقعداً، والمجلس الأدنى الذي يضم 183 مقعداً، ويُنتخب جميع أعضاء المجلسين الأعلى والأدنى من الكونغرس بطريقة الانتخاب المباشر. يدعى مقر الكونغرس باسم «قصر الكونغرس» ويقع في العاصمة سانتو دومينغو. ينص دستور جمهورية الدومينيكان على أن كل عضو من أعضاء مجلس النواب البالغ عددهم 178 عضواً يمثلون منطقة ويؤدون ولاية مدتها أربعة سنوات. تتوزع مقاعد المجلس بين الولايات حسب عدد سكان كل ولاية. أمَّا أعضاء مجلس الشيوخ البالغ عددهم اثنان وثلاثين عضو ويشغلون ولاية مدتها أربعة سنوات. ولكل مقاطعة عضو مجلس شيوخ واحد يمثلها بغض النظر عن عدد سكان المقاطعة. ليس هناك قيود على عدد الولايات التي يستطيع فيها أعضاء مجلس الشيوخ ومجلس النواب الترشح. يعدّ الكونغرس مخولاً بكامل السلطات التشريعية بموجب ما ينص عليه دستور البلاد. يمثل كل من مجلس الشيوخ ومجلس النواب شريكين متكافئين في العملية التشريعية فلا يمكن سن وإصدار التشريعات دون حصولها على موافقة كِلا المجلسين، إلَّا أن الدستور يخصص لكل مجلس من المجلسين صلاحيات خاصة به. مجلس الشيوخ مخوّل بالموافقة على المعاهدات والتعيينات الرئاسية، في حين أن مشاريع القوانين الخاصة برفع العائدات فهي من اختصاص مجلس النواب حيث يجب وضعها من قبله، وكذلك يتمتع المجلس وحده بسلطة توجيه الاتهامات ضد مسؤولي الحكومة، فيما يتمتع مجلس الشيوخ بالسلطة الوحيدة لمحاكمة قضايا الاتهامات ضد مسؤولي الحكومة. - The Congress of the Dominican Republic (Spanish: Congreso de la República Dominicana) is the bicameral legislature of the government of the Dominican Republic, consisting of two houses, the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies. Both senators and deputies are chosen through direct election. There are no term limits for either chamber. As provided by the Dominican Constitution, each of the 178 members of the Chamber of Deputies represents a district and serves a four-year term. Chamber seats are apportioned among the states by population. The 32 Senators serve staggered four-year terms. Each province has one senator, regardless of population. The Constitution vests all legislative power in the Congress. The Chamber and Senate are equal partners in the legislative process (legislation cannot be enacted without the consent of both chambers); however, the Constitution grants each chamber some unique powers. The Senate is empowered to approve treaties and presidential appointments. Revenue-raising bills must originate in the Chamber of Deputies, which also has the sole power of impeachment, while the Senate has the sole power to try impeachment cases. The Congress meets in the Palace of Congress in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The term Congress actually refers to a particular meeting of the national legislature, reckoned according to the terms of representatives. Congressional elections are held in even numbered years divisible by four. Suffrage is universal and compulsory for all Dominican citizens aged over 18 or under that age if married. (en)

Das Mindestalter für die Kandidatur beträgt 25 Jahre, und der Kandidat muss mindestens in den letzten fünf Jahren vor der Wahl im Wahlkreis, der ihn wählt, gewohnt haben.
