- Els Gesta Hammaburgensis ecclesiae pontificum (llatí medieval fets dels bisbes d'Hamburg) és un tractat històric escrit entre 1073 i 1076 per Adam de Bremen, que va fer addicions (scholia) al text fins a la seva mort (possiblement 1081, abans de 1085.) És una de les fonts més importants de la història medieval del nord d'Europa, i la font textual llatina més antiga que informa sobre l'exploració nòrdica d'Amèrica. Cobreix tot el període conegut com l'era dels vikings, des de la fundació del bisbat sota Willehad en 788 fins al govern del príncep-bisbe Adalbert en temps d'Adam (1043-1072). Das Werk stellt eines der bedeutendsten mittelalterlichen Geschichts- und Geographiewerke des nördlichen Europa dar. Möglicherweise ist es zugleich die älteste schriftliche Quelle zur Entdeckung Amerikas durch Europäer. Dabei deutet der Begriff Gesta auf den Anspruch als Tatsachenbericht hin. Die Handschrift wurde vermutlich zwischen zirka 1070 und zirka 1076 von dem Bremer Domscholaster Adam von Bremen verfasst und bis zirka 1081/1085 mit Ergänzungen (Scholien) versehen. Ende des 16. I primi tre libri dell'opera trattano la storia dell'arcivescovato di Brema e di Amburgo tra il 788 ed il 1045 e le gesta dell'arcivescovo Adalberto. L'ultimo libro, intitolato Descriptio insularum Aquilonis, descrive la geografia, le genti ed i costumi dei popoli scandinavi ed i progressi fatti dalle missioni cristiane inviate presso di loro.
