| - Coca-Cola Enterprises NYSE: CCE is the world's largest marketer, producer, and distributor of Coca-Cola products. It is the anchor bottler for North America and Western Europe. The company operates in 46 of the 50 United States and most of Canada, encompassing approximately 81 percent of the North American population. In addition, it is the exclusive Coca-Cola bottler for all of Belgium, continental France, Great Britain, Luxembourg, Monaco, and The Netherlands. The primary areas under the control of other bottlers include most of the mountain west, most parts of the south, northern New England, Alaska, and the Canadian Arctic. The company is the world’s largest bottler of Coca-Cola products, including Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Sprite, Dasani, Fanta, vitaminwater, smartwater and Fuze. In some areas, the company also distributes beverages made by other companies, including Dr Pepper, Campbell's V8 beverages and Rockstar Energy Drink. The company was founded in 1986 with the purpose of consolidating the many independent bottling groups in the Coca-Cola System. Previously independent businesses in small geographic areas, generally a central city or town and its hinterland, bottled Coca-Cola products and distributed these to stores. The Coca-Cola Company began to buy up these bottlers in 1980 and then spun this function off to anchor bottlers in various parts of the world. Today the company is 36% owned by the Coca-Cola Company, while the remaining interest is floated on the stock market. Coca-Cola Enterprises is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia but is separate from The Coca-Cola Company. In 2007, the company distributed more than 2 billion physical cases products. A physical case is 192 ounces, or 24 standard servings. This represents about 18% of the total Coca-Cola production of Coca-Cola worldwide. Globally, the company operates 440 facilities, 55,000 vehicles, and 2.4 million coolers, vending machines, and beverage dispensers. Some production facilities are located in Canada, The Netherlands, Belgium, France, and the UK . En 1997, c'est au tour de la Grande-Bretagne, avec l'acquisition de la totalité d'Amalgamated Beverages G.B., l' entreprise qui assurait l'embouteillage et la distribution des produits TCCC mais aussi des marques de Cadbury-Schweppes. En 1999, CCE complète sa position dominante aux États-Unis en rachetant une douzaine de sociétés opérant sur le territoire américain puis la société qui embouteillait et distribuait pour le Luxembourg. Aujourd'hui Coca-Cola Enterprises est détenue à 36% par Coca-Cola Company, le reste étant sur le marché boursier. Elle a son siège, comme Coca-Cola Company, à Atlanta en Georgie mais séparé de celui de cette dernière. Coca-Cola Enterprises a produit en 2002, 25 milliards de litres . Cette production représente environ 21% de la production mondiale de Coca-Cola. Les unités de production européennes sont situées aux Pays-Bas, Belgique, France et la Grande-Bretagne . Il existe d'autres anchor bottlers similaires, dans la zone sud-pacifique avec Coca-Cola Amatil, en Europe de l'Est avec Coca-Cola Hellenic et en Amérique latine avec Coca-Cola FEMSA. En 2006, principalement en raison de la hausse du coût de l'aluminium et du fructose de mais (qui sert pour les édulcorants), Coca-Cola Enterprises a annoncé une perte record de 1,1 milliard d'euros en faisant la 6 entreprise au monde cette année là pour le montant des pertes.
