  • Clockers is a 1992 novel by American author Richard Price. In 1995 director Spike Lee adapted it into the film Clockers; Price co-wrote its screenplay with Lee. The book takes place in the fictitious project of North Jersey, Dempsey. It centers around the workings of a local drug gang and the dynamics between the drug dealers, the police and the community. The film is set in Brooklyn, New York. Various characters and plotlines share a strong resemblance to characters and plotlines in the HBO series The Wire, foreshadowing Richard Price's contributions to the writing of the show. (en)
