- عين سوداء (بالإنجليزية: Black eye) أو ورم دموي أو رضة حول العين، هي عبارة عن كدمة حول العين غالبًا بسبب إصابة في الوجه وليس إصابة العين. ويطلق عليها هذا الاسم بسبب لون الكدمة. وتنتج العين السوداء عن النزيف في الأنسجة الموجودة تحت الجلد وحول العين. أحيانًا تتدهور الحالة إن لم يتم عرضها على الطبيب خلال شهور، ويدلل ذلك على وجود إصابة أخطر، قد تصل إلى كسر في الجمجمة خاصة وإن كانت المنطقة المحيطة بكلتا العين محاطة بالسواد (عين الراكونraccoon eye)، أو في حالة إن كانت هناك إصابة سابقة بالرأس. معظم إصابات العين السوداء ليست خطيرة، النزيف داخل العين يسمى التحدمية(hyphema)، ويعد خطيرًا ويمكن أن يتسبب في نقص النظر وتدمير القرنية Corneal Damage. وقد يؤدي أيضًا ارتفاع ضغط الدم في العين إلى نفس الحالة. - A periorbital hematoma, commonly called a black eye or a shiner (associated with boxing or stick sports such as hockey), is bruising around the eye commonly due to an injury to the face rather than to the eye. The name refers to the dark-colored bruising which is the result of accumulated blood and fluid in the loose areolar tissue following a blow to the head. This blood tracks freely under the scalp producing a generalised swelling over the dome of the skull but cannot pass into either occipital or the temple regions because of the bony attachments of the occipitofrontalis muscle. But this fluid can, however, track forward into the eyelid because the occipitofrontalis muscle has no bony attachment anteriorly. This leads to formation of hematoma a few hours after the head injury or cranial operation. If injury is more extensive, potentially even a skull fracture, an apparent black eye can sometimes worsen and may require professional medical treatment before it will resolve. This is more likely if the area around both eyes has been injured (raccoon eyes) or if there is a history of prior head injury or fracture around the eye. Though disfiguring, the vast majority of black eyes are not serious, require little or no treatment, and will resolve spontaneously within a week or two. Bleeding within the eye, a condition called a hyphema, is more serious: it can permanently reduce vision and can damage the cornea. In some cases, abnormally high pressure inside the eyeball (ocular hypertension) can also result. (en)

Comunemente è causato da un trauma subito al viso o alla testa. Il nome deriva dal colore livido che assume l'area attorno all'occhio a causa dell'accumulo sanguigno che avviene sotto la pelle, sia per l'infiammazione sia per la rottura dei capillari. Se entrambi gli occhi sono interessati e vi è stato un trauma alla testa, esso può essere dovuto alla rottura delle ossa della base cranica. Deze ruimte bevat haarvaten die fragiel zijn. Bij een sterke aanraking kunnen de vaatjes scheuren, waardoor bloed in het weefsel lekt. Dit bloed ondervindt in het losse bindweefsel rond het oog weinig weerstand en kan zich makkelijk rondom het oog verspreiden. Het is niet altijd makkelijk bij een blauw oog de ernst van het onderliggend letsel te beoordelen: het kan om een lichte kneuzing gaan maar ook om een gebroken neus of oogkasrand of om een blow-outfractuur van de orbita (oogkas). Zeker als de getroffene dubbel ziet of niet goed kan zien met het getroffen oog, of als de neus gebroken zou kunnen zijn dient het letsel door een arts te worden beoordeeld. Is er geen letsel van het oog zelf of van de botten eromheen dan zal het blauwe oog in de loop van 1-2 weken vanzelf genezen, daarbij blauwe, groene en gele verkleuringsstadia tonend. (nl)
