- Chrysaora quinquecirrha és una espècie de medusa de la classe dels escifozous pròpia d'estuaris atlàntics. Té forma de campana simètrica semitransparent a ratlles i taques vermelles, ataronjades o marrons. Les que no tenen ratlles tenen una umbel·la blanca o opaca. El seu verí és letal per a petites preses, però no per als éssers humans excepte en el cas de reacció al·lèrgica. Manquen de sistemes respiratori i excretor i posseeixen uns tentacles per atrapar l'aliment i dirigir-lo a una boca localitzada en el centre que obre a una cavitat gastrovascular. (ca)
- Chrysaora quinquecirrha, též zvaná mořská kopřiva, je druh medúzy žijící v teplých mořích při pobřeží Atlantského a Indického oceánu a v západním Tichomoří. Je hojná při východním pobřeží Spojených států. Zvon této medúzy má slabě narůžovělou nebo žlutavou barvu, při okrajích zvonu jsou někdy tmavší pruhy. Je menší než příbuzná , která je rovněž označována jako mořská kopřiva, a která žije při západním pobřeží Ameriky. Je dravá, živí se zooplanktonem, korýši, larvami hmyzu, malými rybkami i jinými medúzami. Kořist zabíjí nebo omračuje jedem z žahavých buněk, u lidí způsobuje popálení přechodnou, bolestivou vyrážku. Historically it was confused with several Chrysaora species, resulting in incorrect reports of C. quinquecirrha from other parts of the Atlantic and other oceans. Most recently, C. chesapeakei of estuaries on the Atlantic coast of the United States, as well as the Gulf of Mexico, was only fully recognized as separate from C. quinquecirrha in 2017. It is smaller than the Pacific sea nettle, and has more variable coloration, but is typically pale, pinkish or yellowish, often with radiating more deeply colored stripes on the exumbrella, especially near the margin.
