Chen Liangyu (born October 1946) is a politician of the People's Republic of China from the ruling Communist Party, and the disgraced CPC Shanghai Committee Secretary, or party chief. He was born in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, and has worked in Shanghai for his entire public life. Known to be a prominent member of the Shanghai clique, and a close ally of former president Jiang Zemin and a formidable rival to the Hu Jintao administration, Chen was dismissed in September 2006 for alleged corruption charges related to the misuse of money in Shanghai's social security fund.

  • Chen Liangyu (chin. 陳良宇 / 陈良宇, Chén Liángyǔ *1946 in Ningbo) ist ein chinesischer Politiker. Er war vom 7. Dezember 2001 bis zum 21. Februar 2003 Bürgermeister von Shanghai. Später war er Provinzführer der Provinz Shanghai im Dienste der kommunistischen Partei. In dieser Position konnte er sich dank der Protektion von Jiang Zemin und dessen Shanghaier Fraktion in der Partei sicher fühlen. So kam es, dass er wiederholt Forderungen der Führung aus Peking nach Drosselung des Wirtschaftswachstums und Bekämpfung der Korruption nicht nachkam. Im Jahre 2006 lehnte nach Parteiangaben Chen Liangyu eine sein Ansehen wahrende Versetzung während der Korruptionsermittlungen ab. Auf dem jährlichen Plenum des Zentralkomitees setzte Hu Jintao dann überraschend Chen Liangyu als Provinzführer ab. Offizielle Begründung war die Verwicklung in den Skandal um den Rentenfonds, Deckung illegaler Aktionen seiner Mitarbeiter und die Begünstigung seiner Familie. Dem Rentenfonds hätte er demnach 400 Millionen Yuan unrechtmäßig entzogen. Als Nachfolger wurde der Bürgermeister von Shanghai Han Zheng eingesetzt. Die Absetzung erfolgte für Beobachter sehr überraschend und wird als deutliche Warnung an andere Provinzführer verstanden. (de)
