  • Ein Chatraum (engl. chatroom [ˈʧætˌɹuːm]) ist ein virtueller Ort in dem ein Mehrbenutzer-Chat stattfindet. Räume sind integraler Bestandteil der meisten Instant-Messaging-Systeme, finden sich aber auch bei Webchats. Chaträume haben, je nach System, Funktionen entsprechend Vorbildern aus der realen Welt. Beispielsweise lassen sich Chaträume auf ausgewählte Benutzer beschränken oder Benutzer in einen Chatraum einladen.
