- Chaguaramas (pronounced, in the local English dialect, "shag-gah-rah-muss") lies in the Northwest Peninsula of Trinidad west of Port of Spain; the name is often applied to the entire peninsula, but is sometimes used to refer to its most developed area. The developed area in Chaguaramas starts at ALCOA and ends at the Army and Coast Guard camps on the mainland. In the description or context of "developed area" one excludes the five islands which are in various stages of development or redevelopment as of 2016. Most of the roadway in Chaguaramas lies close to the coastline and one can view the sea from the winding road. Chaguaramas is about 14 km from Port of Spain. (en)

C'est dans cette ville que fut signé le traité de Chaguaramas établissant le marché commun caraïbéen, le Caricom.Chaguaramas est aujourd'hui un centre important de yachting. On y trouve des installations pour entretenir, réparer et gardienner un bateau de plaisance.

- Chaguaramas is een klein stadje op het noordwestelijke schiereiland van Trinidad, enkele kilometers ten westen van Port of Spain. De naam verwijst vaak naar het hele schiereiland, maar wordt meestal enkel gebruikt om het bebouwde deel aan te wijzen. Het gehele schiereiland werd uitgeleend aan de Verenigde Staten om er een marinebasis op te bouwen. De basis werd afgebroken in 1956, en sinds 1963 kwam het stuk land terug onder de regering van Trinidad en Tobago. Chaguaramas was de aangeduide plaats voor een nieuwe hoofdstad van de West-Indische Federatie. Het is ook de plaats waar het werd getekend. Później powstały w niej także instalacje w ramach systemu wczesnego ostrzegania przed rakietami balistycznymi. W 1956 wielkość bazy została ograniczona, a w 1963 teren został w całości zwrócony władzom Trynidadu i Tobago. Teren po dawnej bazie miał się stać miejscem powstania stolicy Federacji Indii Zachodnich. Plan ten nie został ostatecznie zrealizowany, bowiem Federacja rozpadła się, nim budowa zdążyła się na dobre rozpocząć. Nawiązując do idei Federacji, w 1973 podpisano tam traktat ustanawiający Wspólnotę Karaibską. Obecnie miejsce to jest głównym trynidadzkim ośrodkiem sportów jachtowych. (pl)
