- Chaeropus és un gènere extint de peramelemorfs de la família dels queropòdids (Chaeropodidae). Inclou dues espècies molt similars que habitaven les planes àrides i semiàrides d'Austràlia. La seva distribució minvà fins que a la dècada del 1950 ja només ocupava una zona desèrtica de l'interior del continent australià. Des d'aleshores no se n'ha observat cap espècimen viu i es creu que s'ha extingit. (ca)
- Die Schweinsfuß-Nasenbeutler (Chaeropus) sind eine ausgestorbene Beutelsäugergattung aus der Ordnung der Nasenbeutler (Peramelemorphia), die in trockenen Gras- und Buschländern im Westen, im Inneren, im Süden und im Nordosten von Australien vorkam. Es gab drei Arten von denen zwei erst im 20. Jahrhundert ausgestorben sind. Chaeropus ecaudatus, die Typusart, verschwand nach Berichten der Aborigines zwischen 1920 und 1930, Chaeropus yirratji, die erst im Jahr 2019 beschrieben wurde, hat nach Aussagen von Aborigines bis in die 1950er Jahre gelebt. Chaeropus baynesi, die dritte Art, ist nur fossil aus der Fisherman’s Cliff Local Fauna aus dem Pliozän von New South Wales bekannt. (de)

They were unique marsupials, of the order Peramelemorphia (bandicoots and bilbies), with unusually thin legs, yet were able to move rapidly. Two recognised species inhabited dense vegetation on the arid and semiarid plains of Australia. The genus' distribution range was later reduced to an inland desert region, where it was last recorded in the 1950s; it is now presumed extinct. (en)
