- Ο Βυζαντινο-Γενουατικός πόλεμος του 1348-49 έγινε για τον έλεγχο των τελωνειακών δασμών του Βοσπόρου. Οι Ρωμαίοι προσπάθησαν να σπάσουν την εξάρτησή τους για τρόφιμα και ναυτιλιακό εμπόριο από τους Γενουάτες εμπόρους του Γαλατά, και επίσης να ανοικοδομήσουν τη δική τους ναυτική δύναμη. - Der Byzantinisch-genuesische Krieg von 1348 bis 1349 war ein Konflikt zwischen dem Byzantinischen Reich und der Republik Genua um die Kontrolle der Zollgebühren, welche für die Durchfahrt von Schiffen durch den Bosporus von den Byzantinern erhoben wurde. Des Weiteren versuchten die Byzantiner, ihre Abhängigkeit bei der Nahrungsmittelversorgung und dem Seehandel im Allgemeinen von Genuesen aus Galata zu brechen sowie ihre eigene Position als Seemacht zu stärken. Im Krieg verbrannten Genuesen byzantinische Schiffe im für die Getreidelieferungen wichtigen Hafen von Sosopolis. Die neu errichtete Kriegsflotte der byzantinischen Marine wurde jedoch von den Genuesen erbeutet und daraufhin eine Friedensvereinbarung geschlossen. (de)

The Byzantines attempted to break their dependence for food and maritime commerce on the Genoese merchants of Galata, and also to rebuild their own naval power. Their newly constructed navy however was captured by the Genoese, and a peace agreement was concluded. (en)
- La guerra bizantina-genovesa de 1348-1349 fue un conflicto que se libró por el control de los impuestos que pagaban los buques que cruzaban el Bósforo. Los bizantinos intentaron eliminar la dependencia de los mercaderes genoveses de Gálata en cuanto al suministro de alimentos a Constantinopla y al comercio marítimo en general, y también reconstruir su propia Armada. Los genoveses lograron capturar los navíos que construyeron y las hostilidades se zanjaron mediante un acuerdo de paz. (es)

Os bizantinos tentaram eliminar sua dependência dos genoveses de Gálata em relação às importações de comida e ao comércio marítimo, além de tentarem também se reimpor como uma potência marítima. Esta recém-construída marinha foi, contudo, capturada pelos genoveses e um novo tratado de paz foi firmado, encerrando o conflito. (pt)
