- L'anafil, també anomenat nafil, és un instrument de vent metall d'època medieval, un aeròfon d'embocadura del tipus trompeta en la classificació d'Hornbostel-Sachs. En alguns territoris era anomenat també trompeta heràldica o botzina, tot i que de vegades botzina fa referència a una variant corbada d'aquest mateix instrument usat especialment en època romana. Es tracta d'una mena de trompeta de canó recte, aproximadament d'un metre i mig de llargada, amb el pavelló en forma de copa i l'embocadura cònica. Etimològicament prové del mot persa-àrab an-nafīr, ‘la trompeta’. (ca)
- The buisine (Old French; also, busine, buysine, buzine) was a type of straight medieval trumpet usually made of metal, also called a herald's trumpet. The precursor of today's fanfare trumpet, it had a very long and slender body, usually one to two metres in length (some were reported to have been at least six feet in length) that tapered toward the end into a slightly flared bell. It is commonly seen in paintings being played by angels and often also bearing the banner of a nobleman. The term descends from Buccina, a Roman military horn. The horn was mainly used for military and ceremonial purposes. The buisine or herald's trumpet was widely used in Fanfares. These instruments would serve as a sort of timekeeper to announce events and meetings. Their long, tubed shape would allow them to hang flags and banners, which made them popular for events and ceremonies. The term is first found in the c1100 Chanson de Roland, and it was probably a general term for horns and trumpets rather than referring to a specific instrument. Early trumpets were slightly curved, but the term was applied c1300 to straight trumpets imported from the Middle East during the Crusades. The modern German word for trombone, Posaune, is a corruption of buisine by way of busaun. (en)

D'apparence globalement similaire à une trompette de cavalerie moderne, cet instrument est caractérisé par un fût long et étroit pouvant mesurer jusqu'à deux mètres de long, sans pavillon. Elle apparait pour la première fois dans les enluminures au XIIe siècle, en particulier comme instrument privilégié des anges. Cet instrument est l'ancêtre commun de la trompette et du trombone. Son nom est issu du buccin ou de la buccina, les trompettes romaines qui ont la particularité d'être retournées. Son nom est passé à l'allemand sous la forme de Posaune, déformation due à l'accent rhénan, qui désigne aujourd'hui dans cette langue le trombone, mais continue aussi de désigner les trompettes des anges dans les traductions de la Bible utilisées dans les différentes liturgies chrétiennes. - Een bazuin is een historisch blaasinstrument. De bazuin was de voorloper van de trompet. Hij bestond uit een ongebogen, lange metalen (koperen) buis, breed uitlopend en was vaak versierd met het vaandel van een burchtheer of ridder. Met een bazuin kunnen alleen natuurtonen gespeeld worden. De bazuin werd gebruikt ter verwelkoming van bezoek, waarschuwing voor/tegen naderende personen.Natuurlijk heeft de bazuin ook militaire doelen gediend: de signalen reveille (opstaan), opstijgen, in galop, ten aanval, terugtrekken en taptoe werden erop geblazen. In andere talen is er soms geen apart woord voor bazuin. In het verleden gebruikte men in het Nederlands nog weleens het woord bazuin om een trombone aan te duiden, hoewel de trombone bepaald niet beperkt is tot natuurtonen. In het Duits wordt een trombone nog altijd Posaune genoemd, terwijl men voor een bazuin de term Fanfare of Fanfarentrompete hanteert. (nl)
