- The Brocken Garden (German: Brockengarten) is an alpine botanical garden on the summit of the Brocken (1,142 m above sea level), the highest peak in the Harz mountains of Germany. It lies within the Harz National Park near Wernigerode in the state of Saxony-Anhalt and has a stock of around 1,600 types of plant. These include species that only grow in the Brocken region, like the Brocken anemone or alpine pasqueflower and the Brocken hawkweed, but its main focus is on alpine plants like the white dryad and the Swiss willow.It is open daily without charge. - Der Brockengarten ist ein botanischer Garten auf dem Gipfel des 1141,2 m ü. NHN hohen Brockens, dem höchsten Berg des Mittelgebirges Harz, und gehört zum Stadtgebiet von Wernigerode im sachsen-anhaltischen Landkreis Harz und zum Nationalpark Harz. Der Brockengarten bietet einen Bestand von rund 1.500 Pflanzenarten. Darunter befinden sich Arten, die nur im Gebiet des Brockens wachsen, wie die Brockenanemone genannte Kleine Alpen-Kuhschelle oder das Brockenhabichtskraut, vor allem aber alpine Pflanzen wie Weiße Silberwurz oder die Schweizer Weide. Im Alpinum des Gartens sind Pflanzen aus den Hochgebirgsregionen der Welt zu finden, u. a. Alpen, Pyrenäen, Balkan, Kaukasus, Rocky Mountains und Himalaya. (de)
