  • Brazil Iron Ltd. is a privately held company, headquartered in the United Kingdom. The company holds 24 contiguous iron and manganese tenements, through its Brazilian subsidiary, Brazil Iron Mineração LTDA. According the Brazilian National Mining Agency (ANM)Brazil Iron is the largest foreign investor in mineral research in Brazil, accounting for 63% of the mineral research investment in Bahia state. The operation is located in Bahia state Brazil and comprises an operating direct shipping iron ore (DSO) mine and a 10mtpa pellet feed concentrate development project. The project is contained within 430km2 of continuous iron and manganese tenements. Brazil Iron's development project already has a complete Pre-Feasibility Study, and the Bankable Feasibility Study is ongoing. The project is capable of producing high quality direct reduction (DR) grade pellet feed iron ore (67.5% Fe and <2% SiO2). The project capacity is 10mtpa of final product. Brazil Iron's pellet feed project scores well in terms of sustainability. In particular, the scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions benefit from the company being located in Bahia state, Brazil and due to the fact that the product is direct reduction grade iron ore. In Bahia, the vast majority of electricity is generated from renewable sources, including hydro, solar and wind generation. This allows all of the processing equipment and logistics chain to be run on renewable electricity. Abundant renewable energy sources also make Bahia ideally placed for low-cost green hydrogen production. Bahia state government are aiming to decarbonize all Bahian industries and have published a state plan for the Green Hydrogen Economy – PEH2V. This initiative is aligned with a federal push to increase green hydrogen production in Brazil. (en)
