- Der Bankraub in Fortaleza, der am 6. und 7. August 2005 in einer Filiale der Zentralbank von Brasilien in Fortaleza im Bundesstaat Ceará durchgeführt und am 8. August entdeckt wurde, wird in deutschsprachigen Medien als der größte Bankraub in der Geschichte Brasiliens bezeichnet. Die Täter entwendeten 3,5 Tonnen Bargeld im Wert von 164,75 Millionen Reais (2015 etwa 56 Millionen Euro). Mutmaßlich waren über 150 Personen direkt am Bankraub oder an der nachfolgenden Geldwäsche beteiligt. - The Banco Central burglary at Fortaleza was the theft of about R$160 million from the vault of the Banco Central branch located in Fortaleza, in the state of Ceará, Brazil, on August 6, 2005. It is one of the world's largest heists.In the aftermath of the burglary, of the 25 people thought to be involved, only 8 had been arrested, and R$20 million recovered, up to the end of 2005. In addition, several of the gang are thought to have been victims of kidnapping, and one member, Luis Fernando Ribeiro, thought to have been the mastermind of the operation, was killed by kidnappers after a ransom was paid.Arrests and recovery of the money, as well as kidnapping and murder of the perpetrators, have been ongoing. One hundred and twenty nine arrests were made, and 32 million Reais were recovered. The Brazilian Federal Police was also able to prevent other burglaries, as shown in the Netflix documentary "3 Tonelada$: Assalto ao Banco Central". (en)

- Ladrões cometeram um assalto ao Banco Central do Brasil em Fortaleza, no Ceará, no final de semana dos dias 6 e 7 de agosto de 2005. O crime só foi descoberto no início do expediente da segunda-feira do dia 8 de agosto. Foi o segundo maior assalto a banco da história do Brasil. A escavação para se fazer o túnel que possibilitou a invasão demorou cerca de três meses. Segundo a Polícia Federal, com base em estimativas a partir do peso das notas roubadas (3,5 toneladas), foram roubados aproximadamente 164 milhões de reais (na época aproximadamente 75 milhões de dólares). As notas todas empilhadas chegariam a uma altura de quase 33 metros. A Polícia Federal não comenta sobre as matrizes. (pt)
