Basé à Londres, Blue se compose de Duncan James, Antony Costa, Lee Ryan et Simon Webbe.
Le groupe voit le jour au début de l'an 2000, suite à la décision de Duncan et d’Antony de former une formation vocale. Ils recrutent alors Lee (rencontré au cours d’auditions et, selon eux, le meilleur chanteur du moment) ainsi que son colocataire, Simon. Ils n’ont aucun mal à dénicher un manager et signent dans la foulée un contrat avec Innocent Records, un label de Virgin.
Leur premier opus, "All Rise", est vendu a plus d'1,2 millions d’exemplaires au Royaume-Uni uniquement, avec des places de N°1 des charts dans beaucoup de pays d'Europe. Vu comme le début d'un succès, "All Rise", qui sortira le 21 Mai 2001 dans les bacs anglais, marquera le "Blue Day".
En 2002, il sortent un nouvel album "One Love" dans lequel on y trouve un duo avec Elton John sous la forme d'une reprise de "Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word". La chanson caracolle en tête des ventes. Il se place 3ème en Europe, 34ème en France en 2003.
Les membres de Blue ont co-écrit la plupart des titres de "One Love", tout en collaborant ainsi avec d'autres artistes ; ainsi, Lee a co-écrit "Without You" avec Connor Reeves, tandis que Rob Davis a travaillé avec Duncan sur le titre "Get Down On It".
À la suite de la sortie de "One Love", Simon, Antony, Lee & Duncan s’embarqueront en Novembre pour une tournée – leur première - qui les mènera notamment à Sheffield, Cardiff, Birmingham, Newcastle, Glasgow, Manchester ainsi qu’au Wembley londonien. (fr)

In seguito esce il loro secondo album One Love, dove c'è la partecipazione di Elton John, con il quale hanno inciso una seconda versione di Sorry seems to Be the hardest word; l'album contiene anche il brano U Make Me Wanna e One Love.
Nel 2003 esce anche il loro terzo album, Guilty, dove all'interno troviamo: Signed, sealed, delivered I'm yours, cantata con Stevie Wonder e Angie Stone; Breathe easy, che più tardi verrà rivista in italiano con la collaborazione di Tiziano Ferro, il quale fornirà loro il testo, diventando A chi mi dice; il brano Guilty, scritto da Duncan, ed infine Bubblin, scritto da Antony.
Nel 2004 i Blue incidono un disco con tutti i loro più grandi successi chiamato Best Of Blue, e prodotto in tre versioni diverse: una con tutti i pezzi migliori, un'altra con delle Bonus Track, tra cui un filmato con tutta la storia dei Blue e la Photo Gallery, e infine un DVD con contenuti speciali, extra e video di alcuni brani.
Best of Blue contiene un brano, Curtain falls, scritto da tutti i membri della band che racconta i loro sacrifici e la loro storia fino all'ultimo album.
Nel 2005 i Blue tornano con una versione italiana di Only words I know, e pubblicano il loro 4ever Blue, anche questo in diverse versioni: la prima in versione standard, e la seconda in edizione limatata riservata ai fan italiani.
In seguito, ci sono state molte voci sul futuro della band: prima dell'uscita del Best si è detto che si sarebbero sciolti subito dopo, mentre dopo l'uscita del "4ever Blue" si sperava che la Band tornasse in studio di registrazione.
Ma con l'uscita di "Lee Ryan, l'album" da parte di Lee Ryan, "Sanctuary" di Simon Webbe e "Futur Past" da Duncan James, le speranze si sono strette. Non è mai comunque stato annunciato lo scioglimento definitivo, ma i Blue lo hanno definito come una "pausa di riflessione".
Negli ultimi mesi però, con l'annuncio del ritorno dei Boyzone, inevitabilmente si è tornato a parlare dei Blue. Alcune fonti rivelano che i 4 cantanti siano tornati ad una vita tranquilla, e alcuni malumori creatisi nel tempo tra di loro rendono ormai quasi impossibile il ritorno dei blue negli studi di regiustrazione. Longplay ukazał się w listopadzie 2002 roku. Jest to ciekawa kolekcja utworów utrzymanych w klasycznej stylistyce pop, soul i R'n'B. Znalazł się tam także cover wielkiego hitu Eltona John z 1976 roku "Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word", w którym gościnne pojawia się sam Elton.
Po premierze "One Love" Simon, Antony, Lee i Duncan wyruszyli w swoje pierwsze w karierze tournee - gigantyczną trasę po stadionach Wielkiej Brytanii i Irlandii, która okazała się wielkim sukcesem kasowym i zyskała sobie entuzjastyczne recenzje wszędzie, gdzie odbywały się koncerty. W roku 2002 zespół odebrał kolejną serię nagród, w tym Dla najlepszego zespołu pop podczas gali Top Of The Pops Awards 2002 oraz Dla najlepszego zespołu brytyjskiego i Za najlepsze koncerty podczas Smash Hits Awards 2002.
Natomiast już w listopadzie 2003 roku zespół wydał kolejny studyjny album, zatytułowany "Guilty". Krążek promował singel z nagraniem tytułowym.
Aktualnie zespół zawiesił działalność , gdyż jak twierdzą muzycy są już oni bardzo zmęczeni trasami koncertowymi , lecz nie wykluczają oni powrotu na scenę . (pl)
