- The Biography Channel (Eigenschreibweise THE BIOGRAPHY CHANNEL) war ein digitaler Bezahl-TV-Kanal, der vom 31. März 2007 bis zum 22. September 2014 in Deutschland auf Sendung war. Das Programm von BIO bestand vor allem aus biografischen Porträts von bedeutenden Persönlichkeiten wie Schauspielern, Musikern, Künstlern, Autoren, Sportlern, Wirtschaftsgrößen und Politikern. Neben Biografien zeigte The Biography Channel auch Real-Life- und Lifestyle-Serien. Das Programm setzte sich aus Einzelsendungen, Reihen und Serien zusammen, die in sich thematisch geordnet waren. The Biography Channel erhielt seine Sendelizenz von der Niedersächsischen Landesmedienanstalt (NLM), Hannover. Gesellschafter des digitalen Spartenkanals waren als Joint Venture die A+E Networks (ehemals AETN International) und NBC Global Networks Deutschland. The Biography Channel firmierte unter der Bezeichnung The History Channel (Germany) GmbH & Co. KG, welche den Schwestersender History betreibt. The Biography Channel erreichte weltweit über 79 Millionen Haushalte in 23 Ländern und wurde in 11 Sprachen übersetzt. Am 22. September 2014 wurde die deutschsprachige Version des Senders durch A&E Germany ersetzt. (de)

The network features lifestyle programming, with a mix of reality, culinary, home renovation and makeover series. The network originally launched in 1998 as The Biography Channel, as an offshoot of A&E and named after its television series Biography. As such, it originally featured factual programs, such as reruns of its namesake. As A&E shifted its focus towards reality television and drama series, the Biography Channel became the home for several series that had been displaced by the flagship network (including Biography itself), but shifted towards reality-oriented series itself in 2007 and was rebranded as simply Bio. In 2014, the channel was rebranded as FYI. FYI is available to 69.0 million households in America as of January 2016. (en)

A rede foi lançada originalmente em 1998 como The Biography Channel, como uma ramificação da A&E e recebeu o nome de sua série de televisão Biography. Como tal, originalmente apresentava programas factuais, como reprises de seu homônimo.
