Willis Robert "Billy" Drummond, Jr. (b. Newport News, Virginia, June 19, 1959) is an American jazz drummer. Drummond learned jazz from an early age from his father, who was a drummer and a jazz enthusiast. He played in bands from age eight and studied at Shenandoah Conservatory. He moved to New York at the behest of Al Foster in 1986. Since then Drummond has played and/or recorded with Out of the Blue, Joe Henderson, Horace Silver, Ralph Moore, John Faddis, Walt Weiskopf, Sam Newsome, Bobby Hutcherson, Buster Williams, Charles Tolliver, Lew Tabackin and Toshiko Akiyoshi, Hank Jones, Nat Adderley, John Swana, Vincent Herring, James Moody, Steve Kuhn, Sonny Rollins, Andy LaVerne, Lee Konitz, Dave Stryker, George Colligan, Ted Rosenthal, Bruce Barth, and Jonny King, David Hazeltine and Joe Locke, Sheila Jordan, is a member of Carla Bley and the Lost Chords, Andrew Hill, Archie Shepp, Larry Willis, Eddie Henderson, Freddie Hubbard (mid-1990s). Influences include Tony Williams, Max Roach, Al Foster, Jack DeJohnette and Billy Hart, among others. He now leads a New York-based band called Freedom of Ideas. He is currently also Professor of Jazz Drums at the Juilliard School of Music and NYU in New York.He has recorded three CDs as a leader: "Native Colours", "The Gift" and Dubai Criss Cross Jazz, which was voted Number 1 Jazz CD of 1997 by the New York Times.

- Billy Drummond (* 1959 in Newport News/Virginia) ist ein US-amerikanischer Jazz-Schlagzeuger. Drummond begann bereits im Alter von vier Jahren Schlagzeug zu spielen und wirkte als Jugendlicher in verschiedenen Schul- und regionalen Band mit. 1988 ging er nach New York City, wo er bald Mitglied der Band Out of the Blue wurde und dem Sextett von Horace Silver beitrat. Als Sideman ist Drummond auf über zweihundert CDs zu hören, u.a. unter Carla Bley, Sonny Rollins, Steve Kuhn, Joe Henderson, J. J. Johnson, Nat Adderley, Bobby Hutcherson, Buster Williams, Lee Konitz, James Moody, Andrew Hill, Freddie Hubbard, Charles Tolliver, Sheila Jordan und Toots Thielemans. Daneben veröffentliche er auch mehrere Alben als Bandleader. Gemeinsam mit seiner Frau Renee Rosnes und dem (nicht verwandten Bassisten) Ray Drummond spielte er in der Gruppe The Drummonds.
