William "Bill" Rieflin (born September 30, 1960) is a contemporary musician and is currently drumming for R.E.M.. In the past he has worked with Ministry, the Revolting Cocks, LAND, KMFDM, Pigface, Swans, Chris Connelly, Nine Inch Nails and many others. He lives in Seattle, is married to the artist Francesa Sundsten and is one of the founders of the independent music label First World Music.

Oltre a questi due gruppi ha partecipato a molti progetti di industrial rock come Revolting Cocks, KMFDM, Swans oltre al supergruppo da lui creato, i Pigface a cui hanno partecipato decine di musicisti tra cui Trent Reznor, Flea e John Lydon. Nel 1999 esce il suo primo disco solista, Birth of a Giant, dove suona con Robert Fripp e Trey Gunn dei King Crimson. Dalle sessioni di registrazione scaturisce un altro disco, The Repercussions of Angelic Behavior, a nome Rieflin\Fripp\Gunn. Nel 2005 fonda un nuovo supergruppo, gli Slow Music, che vedono Rieflin affiancato da Robert Fripp e Peter Buck alla chitarra, Hector Zazou alle tastiere, Fred Chalenor al basso e Matt Chamberlain alla batteria. E' coinvolto nel progetto musicale The Minus 5, band proveniente da Seattle capitanata da Scott McCaughey alla chitarra, Peter Buck dei R.E.M. al basso, John Ramberg alla chitarra e Rieflin alla batteria. Insieme ai due colleghi dei R.E.M., Peter Buck e Scott McCaughey, affianca il musicista inglese Robyn Hitchcock nel progetto "Robyn Hitchcock and the Venus 3" Rumors piuttosto insistenti lo volevano ufficialmente membro dei R.E.M. alla fine del loro tour per l'album Around The Sun, ma non sono state ricevute conferme dalla band di Athens.
