Bill Moyers Journal is an American television news program that provided stories outside the New York City public area on a schedule of news topics and events, such as religion, history, sexuality, geography and more. Originally, Bill Moyers was the executive creator and host/reporter. It was produced by WNET in New York and aired from 1972 to 1976 on PBS.In 1979, following a nearly three-year hiatus, many presidential members of PBS announced that Bill Moyers Journal would resume production for a second series. When it did, many more topics were added to the schedule after Bill Moyers came back from CBS News, including elections and announcements from all across almost every U.S. state, such as Florida, Texas, Illinois, Washington, D.C. and Nevada. It also had a report on the 25th anniversary of the premiere of the long-running NBC talk program The Tonight Show. The second installment of this program was also produced by WNET in New York City, and was also aired on PBS, and the whole series ended immediately in 1981.
