- The Big Gold Belt is a historic professional wrestling championship belt that has represented multiple world championships throughout its history. Originally designed in 1985 by silversmith Charles Crumrine and commissioned by Jim Crockett Promotions for NWA World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair, the championship belt has three large gold plates with a distinctive name plate onto which the champion's name was etched. While not the first wrestling championship belt to incorporate a name plate, it popularized the concept. The original championship belt design was known for being unbranded as it only read "World Heavyweight Wrestling Champion" and bore no initials or trademark of its owning promotion. The original belt is currently owned by Conrad Thompson. (en)

El cinturón original fue diseñado en 1985 para el entonces Campeón Mundial Peso Pesado de la NWA Ric Flair. Ha pasado por las más importantes promociones de lucha libre en el mundo como NWA, WCW y WWF/E, quien fue su último propietario, pero no usó la correa original sino una versión ligeramente modificada del Big Gold Belt, la cual es conocida como World Heavyweight Championship, cuyo linaje no tiene relación con el de la NWA o WCW. Actualmente el cinturón se encuentra inactivo, tras utilizarse como parte complementaria del WWE World Heavyweight Championship junto al WWE Championship, siendo este último el cinturón que se utiliza para representarlo. Het werd in 1985 oorspronkelijk ontworpen door zilversmid Charles Crumrine en in opdracht van voor het Ric Flair. De riem heeft drie grote gouden platen en was het eerste kampioenschapsriem met een naamplaatje waarop de regerend kampioen vermeld kon worden. De originele riemontwerp werd bekend als merkloos, omdat er alleen "World Heavyweight Wrestling Champion" op te lezen was en het geen initialen of handelsmerk van de promotie-eigenaar droeg. In 2003 voegde het bedrijf World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) zijn logo toe aan het ontwerp voor het auteursrecht doeleinden. Naar aanleiding van de invoering van de riem in WWE was het onderscheidende naamplaatje het kenmerk van de Big Gold Belt.
