Bernardo Sepúlveda Amor (born 14 December 1941) is a Mexican jurist, politician, and diplomat.He was born in Mexico City, where he studied law at the National Autonomous University . He then pursued post-graduate studies, specialising in international law, at Cambridge University in the United Kingdom . He is a professor of international law and international organisations at El Colegio de México and also teaches at the Matías Romero Diplomatic Academy.

  • Bernardo Sepúlveda Amor (born 14 December 1941) is a Mexican jurist, politician, and diplomat.He was born in Mexico City, where he studied law at the National Autonomous University . He then pursued post-graduate studies, specialising in international law, at Cambridge University in the United Kingdom . He is a professor of international law and international organisations at El Colegio de México and also teaches at the Matías Romero Diplomatic Academy. His other academic activities have seem him work at the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas and the UNAM. From January to November 1982, he served as Ambassador to the United States of America and from 1989 to 1993, as Ambassador to the United Kingdom. Between those two diplomatic postings from December 1982 to 1988, he served as Secretary of Foreign Affairs under President Miguel de la Madrid. During his time in the Cabinet, he was instrumental in establishing the Contadora Group, which worked to bring peace to Central America, and in the creation of the Grupo de Ocho, since expanded to become the Rio Group. In 1984 he was awarded the Prince of Asturias Prize for his international co-operation efforts. The following year, UNESCO awarded him its Simón Bolívar Prize.In 1996 he was elected to serve on the United Nations International Law Commission; he was re-elected to the same position in 2001. Sepúlveda studeerde rechtsgeleerdheid aan de Nationale Autonome Universiteit van Mexico en specialiseerde zich in internationaal recht aan de Universiteit van Cambridge. Sepúlveda werd hoogleraar aan het Colegio de México en onderzoeker aan de UNAM. Van januari tot november 1982 was hij ambassadeur van Mexico in de Verenigde Staten. Onder president Miguel de la Madrid was hij minister van buitenlandse zaken. In deze functie was hij een van de organisatoren van de Contadoragroep, die zich inzette vrede te brengen in Centraal-Amerika, en de Groep van Río. Bernardo Sepúlveda es egresado de Derecho en la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México y tiene estudios de postgrado en Derecho Internacional en la Universidad de Cambridge, es catedrático de El Colegio de México, el Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económica y en la UNAM.Se desempeñó como Embajador de México en Estados Unidos en 1982 y apartir de diciembre de ese año fue Secretario de Relaciones Exteriores durante todo el gobierno de Miguel de la Madrid, durante este periodo fue uno e los principales impulsores del Grupo Contadora que buscaba la paz en los países centroamericanos.
