- Dora (Engels: Dora the Explorer) is een Amerikaans animatie-kinderprogramma dat in Nederland sinds 3 maart 2003 wordt uitgezonden in het programmablok Nick Jr. (voorheen Kindernet) van Nickelodeon. In Vlaanderen ging de serie in première op 16 februari 2004 bij de verplaatsing van Nickelodeon van TMF naar MTV. Ook is er een Dora-computerspel verschenen. De series zijn gemaakt door Chris Gifford, en Eric Weiner. Een pilotaflevering werd gemaakt in 1999 en in 2000 werd het een reguliere serie. De kijker moet Dora helpen om de goede weg te vinden door antwoorden te vinden op vragen en problemen. Samen met de kijker, haar aapje Boots, haar pratende rugzak en pratende kaart vindt ze altijd de goede weg. Dora is erg nieuwsgierig en wil alles weten over de dieren, bloemen en planten van het oerwoud. De tekenfilm speelt zich af in de jungle van Zuid-Amerika. Als Dora op avontuur gaat, draagt ze voor de zekerheid altijd haar rugzakje met survivalbenodigdheden met zich mee. Bovendien kan ze altijd terugvallen op De Kaart, een zingende plattegrond. Dora spreekt Nederlands en Engels, omdat ze tweetalig opgevoed wordt. In dit programma kunnen door de jonge kijkers ook de eerste woorden Engels geleerd worden. O primeiro episódio da série foi ao ar em 1999 porém tornou-se uma série regular a partir de 2000. O desenho tem caráter educativo e apresenta as aventuras de Dora e seu amigo o macaco Botas que frequentemente falam com o telespectador e sempre viajam ajudando seus amigos e ensinando os telespectadores a falarem espanhol (inglês, nas versões dubladas em português) com cada episódio seguindo sempre a mesma estrutura. Esse foco de um desenho pré-escolar com episódios no mesmo formato e personagens falando com telespectadores se tornou popular sendo usado em muitos outros desenhos pré-escolares em anos seguintes. Alguns profissionais ligados a necessidades educativas especiais recomendam esse desenho para crianças com autismo, devido aos apoios visuais durante toda a comunicação dos personagens com a criança espectadora. No Brasil, a série começou a ser exibido pela Nickelodeon (em canal fechado) no bloco Nick Jr e depois no próprio canal Nick Jr.. Na televisão aberta já foi transmitido pela RedeTV! no programa TV Clubinho entre 2006 e 2007, transmitindo apenas as duas primeiras temporadas. Posteriormente o programa retornou ao ar em rede aberta pela TV Cultura em 2009, transmitindo apenas episódios da 3ª, 4ª e 5ª temporada, posteriormente tendo se aderido ao programa Quintal da Cultura. Depois, com o lançamento do novo canal irmão infantil do Nickelodeon em Portugal, Nick Jr., no dia 2 de novembro de 2017, também foi exibido nesse canal.
