  • Baywatch Nights was a spin-off from the popular television series, Baywatch. Created by Douglas Schwartz, David Hasselhoff, and Gregory J. Bonann, the show was on NBC and ran from 1995 to 1997. The original premise of the show was that, during a midlife crisis, Sgt. Garner Ellerbee, who was the resident police officer of Baywatch since the beginning of the series, decides to quit his job as a police officer and form a detective agency. Mitch Buchannon, his friend from Baywatch, joins to support him and they are in turn joined by a detective named Ryan McBride. During Season 2, facing slipping ratings which were never as good as the original series, the producers decided to switch to a science fiction format (inspired by the success of The X-Files). Garner Ellerbee left the series and was replaced by Diamont Teague, a paranormal expert. The new format did not help the series and it was promptly cancelled after the second season. The character Donna Marko, played by Donna D'Errico (regular cast member for season 2 only) was carried over to the original Baywatch series afterward. Yasmine Bleeth guest-starred on the March 9, 1996 episode entitled "The Curator" as her Baywatch character, Caroline Holden. (en)

Mitch Buchannon, il tenente dei guardaspiaggia, è anche un detective privato, che studia e risolve vari crimini, connessi avvolte anche con il suo lavoro di guardaspiaggia. Insieme al suo amico e poliziotto Garner Ellerbee (Gregory Alan-Williams) e la detective Ryan McBride (Angie Harmon), Mitch apre un'agenzia investigativa aiutato da Destiny Desimone (Lisa Stahl) conosciuta negli episodi di Baywatch "4.09 Uomo di ferro - 5.09 Vento caldo" , Madonna (Denise Bella-Vlasis)e da Lou Raymond (Lou Rawls). Dall' undicesimo episodio entrano nel cast Donna Marco interpretata da Donna D'Errico e Griff Walker interpretato da Eddie Cibrian. Nella seconda stagione i produttori hanno deciso di orientare la serie verso un genere fantascientifico. Così entra nel cast Diamont Teague interpretato da Dorian Gregory, un esperto del paranormale. Successivamente il carattere Donna Marco è stato inviato alla serie originale: Baywatch. Tra le guest star troviamo molti attori e attrici di Baywatch come Billy Warlock "Eddie Kramer,", Yasmine Bleeth "Caroline Holden", Michael Newman "Newmie" e Carmen Electra nel ruolo di Candy. Successivamente Carmen Electra entrò nel cast della serie madre nel ruolo di Lani McKenzie. La serie televisiva non ebbe il successo di audience aspettato e fu chiusa così dopo solo due stagioni.
