- Star Wars Episodi VI: El retorn del Jedi o El retorn del Jedi (títol original en anglès Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi) és una pel·lícula de ciència-ficció de 1983 que fou dirigida per Richard Marquand, basat en el guió de George Lucas i Lawrence Kasdan i amb Lucas com a productor executiu. Cronològicament és la sisena pel·lícula de la saga Star Wars, la tercera en ser realitzada i la primera a usar THX. El film es desenvolupa aproximadament un any després dels successos de L'Imperi contraataca. El malvat Imperi Galàctic sota les ordres de l'emperador Palpatine, està construint una segona Estrella de la mort amb l'objectiu d'aplacar l'Aliança Rebel. Mentre Palpatine supervisa els estadis finals de la construcció de l'estació l'Aliança Rebel envia un atac amb la intenció de destruir-la. Mentrestant, Luke Skywalker, un líder rebel i mestre jedi, lluita per treure del costat fosc Darth Vader, el seu pare. Ο και ο Ντέιβιντ Κρόνενμπεργκ θεωρούνταν πιθανοί υποψήφιοι να σκηνοθετήσουν το πρότζεκτ πριν να υπογράψει σαν σκηνοθέτης ο Μάρκαντ. Les dirigeants de l'Alliance lancent donc toutes leurs forces à l'assaut ne se doutant pas que la flotte impériale les attend de pied ferme. De son côté, le jeune Jedi Luke Skywalker, l'un des héros de l'Alliance, veut sauver son père Dark Vador du côté obscur de la Force et le rallier à sa cause. George Lucas commence l’écriture du scénario en 1981. La préproduction du film dure un an. Le tournage en lui-même se déroule de janvier à mai 1982, principalement aux studios Pinewood en Angleterre, mais aussi en extérieur en Californie. La musique du film est composée et dirigée par John Williams. Lucas profite du vingtième anniversaire du premier Star Wars pour remonter légèrement le film en 1997 en y ajoutant des effets numériques. Le film s'inspire à la fois du cinéma américain, du cinéma japonais et utilise le concept du voyage du héros comme base narratologique. Le Retour du Jedi est un succès commercial et obtient des critiques plutôt positives. Il remporte de nombreux prix, notamment l'oscar des meilleurs effets visuels. O subtítulo Episódio VI estava presente na abertura original de 83, mas ausente do material de divulgação, como aconteceu com O Império Contra-Ataca. O título do filme deveria ser Revenge of the Jedi (A Vingança dos Jedi), mas um pouco antes da estreia George Lucas retornou à ideia inicial adotando o nome conhecido até hoje – e que significa, mais exatamente, O Retorno dos (Cavaleiros) Jedi. O motivo para tal decisão seria o de que um jedi nunca se vingaria, a não ser que quisesse passar para o Lado Sombrio da Força.
