  • The BBC Media Village was opened in 2004 and is the second phase of development at BBC White City. It was built on the same site as the 1908 Summer Olympics and parts of the swimming pool were discovered when the foundations were laid. Two main buildings for staff are the "Broadcast Centre" which houses BBC Future Media & Technology, Red Bee Media's digital television broadcast facilities, and the "Media Centre" which provides office accommodation for BBC staff, many in the administrative segment of the corporation. The Energy Centre provides services to the entire site, and from early 2008 is home to both the production team of the Top Gear TV show and the Top Gear magazine team in the penthouse. The buildings were opened to the public as part of Open House London in September 2004. Public access is available to shops, bars and other retail outlets. The buildings were designed by Allies and Morrison Architects and Buro Happold. (en)
