- Die Autostrada A17 (italienisch für ‚Autobahn A17‘) war eine italienische Autobahn, die von Neapel bis nach Bari führte. Sie durchquerte den italienischen Stiefel von West nach Ost und verband somit das Tyrrhenische mit dem Adriatischem Meer. Die A17 führte von Neapel ostwärts über Avellino und Grottaminarda bis nach Canosa. Hier änderte sie ihren Verlauf südwärts und endete bei Bari. Eröffnet wurde die A17 bereits am 11. Dezember 1969. Als die A14 zwischen Lanciano (südlich von Pescara) und Canosa 1973 eröffnet wurde, war eine durchgehende Verbindung zwischen Bologna und Bari entstanden. So wurde der Abschnitt der A17 von Canosa bis nach Bari Teil der A14. Der Rest der Strecke (Neapel-Canosa) wurde als A16 (Autostrade dei due Mari) klassifiziert. Diese Nummer hatte zuvor der heutige südliche Ast der A12 zwischen Rom und Civitavecchia inne. Die Nummer A17 wurde seither nicht wieder vergeben, da sie in Italien auch als Unglückszahl gilt. (de)
- The Autostrada A17 was an Italian motorway that used to connect Naples to Bari. The section from Naples to Canosa was later renamed Autostrada A16, while the section connecting Canosa to Bari was integrated into Autostrada A14. The reasoning behind the renaming of the Naples to Canosa section is unclear, however an urban legend was formed in which, due to the high accident rate of the section, it was renamed to dispel the bad fortune brought on by the number 17, which signifies bad luck in Italy. After being decommissioned, A17 was never used for any other Italian motorway. (en)

- L'Autostrada A17 era il nome del tronco autostradale italiano tra Napoli e Bari, utilizzato dalla sua apertura nel 1969 sino all'inaugurazione della tratta Lanciano-Canosa dell'Autostrada A14 nel 1973; quest'ultima denominazione fu estesa anche alla tratta Canosa-Bari della A17. Mai chiarito è, altresì, il motivo per cui il rimanente tratto della A17 tra Napoli e Canosa fu rinumerato in A16, benché da fonti mai confermate nacque la leggenda metropolitana che, data l'alta sinistrosità del tracciato, l'autostrada fosse stata rinumerata per evitare il riferimento al numero 17, ritenuto foriero di cattiva sorte. Fino ad allora la numerazione A16 era utilizzata dal tratto autostradale che univa Roma a Civitavecchia il quale assunse, in conseguenza di ciò, la nuova numerazione A12.
