- Anhangueria (or anhanguerians) is a group of pterosaurs belonging to the clade Pteranodontoidea. Fossil remains of this group date back from the Early to Late Cretaceous periods (Valanginian to Turonian stages), around 140 to 92.5 million years ago. Anhangueria was named by paleontologists and Alexander Kellner in a review of Ornithocheirus species in 2013, they defined the clade as a branch-based taxon consisting of all pteranodontoids more closely related to Anhanguera blittersdorffi than to Istiodactylus latidens and Cimoliopterus cuvieri. - De Anhangueria zijn een groep pterosauriërs behorend tot de Pterodactyloidea. In 2013 benoemden en Alexander Kellner de klade Anhangueria. De klade werd gedefinieerd als de groep bestaande uit Anhanguera blittersdorffi Campos and Kellner 1985 en alle soorten nauwerv verwant aan Anhanguera dan aan Istiodactylus latidens Seeley 1901. De Anhangueria bestaan uit middelgrote tot reusachtige soorten uit het vroege Krijt. De Anhangueria waren gespecialiseerde viseters met zeer lange vleugels. Alle vormen hadden een langwerpige snuit met forse tanden. Vermoedelijk waren de anhangueriërs al voor het Opper-Krijt uitgestorven. (nl)
