- غرقة القليس (معرب الإغريقية ἐκκλησία «كنيسة») هي الكنيسة التي بناها وزينها في اليمن أبرهة الأشرم ليحج إليها العرب بدلا من الكعبة، عندما لم يجد إقبالاً عليها من قبل العرب خرج بجيش عظيم على ظهور الفيلة لهدم الكعبة ولكن الله خذله هو وجيشه بطير أبابيل رمتهم بحجارة من سجيل فجعلهم كعصف مأكول. تقع هذه الكنيسة في صنعاء.لم يبق منها في الوقت الحاضر غير موضعها حفرة وبضع شجرات سيجتها هيئة التعاون الأهلي للتطوير سنة 1976 م، وتقع غرقة القليس التي هي حالياً مكب للنفايات في حارة القطيع قرب مسجد نصير داخل المدينة القديمة في غربي قصر السلاح. - The Al-Qalis Church was a Miaphysite Christian church constructed sometime between 527 and the late 560s in the city of Sanaa in modern-day Yemen. The church's lavish decorations made it an important place of pilgrimage, placing it in competition with Kaaba in Mecca. According to the National Museum of Saudi Arabia in Riyadh, Abraha built Al-Qullays in Sana'a. He also built a similar one in Najran for Bani Al-Harith, the House of Allat in Taif for the tribe of Thaqeef, the House of Yareem and the House of Ghamdan in Yemen. (en)
