Alan Bissett is an author from Hallglen in Scotland. His two novels both utilize Bissett's trademark understanding of Scottish colloquialism, popular culture and Socialist politics. Bissett used to lecture in Creative Writing at Bretton Hall College, now part of the University of Leeds. He currently tutors in Creative Writing at the University of Glasgow. He became a full-time writer in 2004.
