- Al gran sole carico d’amore („Unter der großen Sonne von Liebe beladen“) ist eine Oper von Luigi Nono aus dem Jahre 1975, die er als „Szenische Handlung in zwei Teilen“ („Azione scenica in due tempi“) bezeichnet. Die Librettisten Luigi Nono und Juri Petrowitsch Ljubimow erzählen darin die Geschichte des Kommunismus und des Klassenkampfes anhand mehrerer Frauenschicksale und verwenden dazu Texte von Gramsci, Marx, Gorki, Brecht, Pavese, Rimbaud, Lenin, Fidel Castro und Che Guevara. Das Werk gilt als einzige des 20. Jahrhunderts und ist in dreierlei Hinsicht innovativ: 1.

Nono himself and Yuri Lyubimov wrote the libretto. It premiered at the Teatro alla Scala on 4 April 1975, conducted by Claudio Abbado. Lyubimov directed the original production. The UK premiere was at the 32nd Edinburgh Festival in 1978. In addition to vocal soloists, chorus and orchestra, the work incorporates taped sounds. This work is a product of Nono's strong political activism through the mid-1970s. (en)

Composée en 1974 sur une commande du Teatro alla Scala et dédiée au chef d'orchestre Claudio Abbado et au pianiste Maurizio Pollini, l'œuvre a été créée au Teatro Lirico de Milan le 4 avril 1975 sous la direction de Claudio Abbado et dans une mise en scène de Youri Lioubimov, avant d'être reprise dans une version révisée à la Scala le 11 février 1978 sous la direction de Giuseppe Sinopoli.
