- Africa est un poème épique en hexamètres latins composé par Francesco Petrarca. Il est composé de neuf livres avec des lacunes au IV et au IX, et est dédié au roi Robert Ier de Naples. Ce premier gros ouvrage est fondamental pour Pétrarque car il lui permet d'atteindre la gloire poétique sublimée dans la cérémonie du couronnement du poète le 8 avril 1341 à Rome. Pétrarque considérait l'Africa comme son chef-d'œuvre absolu (davantage que le Canzoniere selon les contemporains) et lui valut une grande célébrité dans toute l'Europe. (fr)

Dedicato al re di Napoli Roberto d'Angiò, è composto da nove libri, ma proprio per questo forse incompleto perché all'epoca si riteneva che un'opera di grande prestigio dovesse essere composta da 12 o 24 libri; inoltre l'opera presenta lacune al IV e al IX libro. È la più importante opera latina di Petrarca, per la quale egli fu incoronato poeta in Campidoglio. Il poeta Petrarca la considerava il suo capolavoro assoluto (ben più valido del Canzoniere secondo i contemporanei), infatti gli valse grande fama in tutta Europa sebbene ne fosse stata divulgata solo una minima parte. - Africa (pl. "Afryka") – nieukończony, napisany po łacinie poemat Francesca Petrarki, poświęcony drugiej wojnie punickiej i skoncentrowany wokół postaci Scypiona Afrykańskiego Starszego. Artysta pisał utwór pomiędzy 1338 a 1339, następnie przerwał i powrócił do pracy w latach 1343-1344 i poprawiał go dalej aż do śmierci. Africa nigdy nie została przez autora opublikowana w całości, ukazał się tylko jeden z jej fragmentów – opowieść o śmiertelnie rannym bracie Hannibala, . Utwór napisany jest heksametrem. Autor wyraża w nim podziw do wielkości starożytnych. Fabuła została zainspirowana lekturą Ab Urbe condita libri ("Od założenia miasta") Tytusa Liwiusza. Utwór był dedykowany Robertowi I Mądremu. (pl)
