- The All-Ireland League (AIL), known for sponsorship reasons as the Energia All-Ireland League, is the national league system for the 50 senior rugby union clubs in Ireland, covering both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The league was inaugurated in the 1990–91 season. The league is the second highest level of rugby union in Ireland, as professional teams representing the four provinces of Ireland play in the Pro14. Division 1 sides may field no more than two professional players in their matchday sides, and only one may be a forward. Division 2 sides may not field professional players. Foreign professional players may not play in the League.Cork Constitution, the inaugural winners , are the only club to have retained top division status since the inception of the league. (en)

Le championnat se compose de deux divisions. la première division est semi-professionnelle. Actuellement[Quand ?] sponsorisée par la banque Ulster Bank, l'épreuve est souvent appelée Ulster Bank League. Le Championnat d'Irlande de rugby à XV n'est pas la principale épreuve de rugby à XV en Irlande. Le plus haut niveau est représenté par les quatre provinces irlandaises Munster Rugby, Leinster Rugby, Ulster Rugby et Connacht Rugby qui disputent avec les franchises galloises, écossaises et italiennes le Pro14 et la Coupe d'Europe de rugby à XV. Le championnat a été créé au commencement de la saison 1990-1991. Il est dominé par les clubs de la ville de Limerick dans le Munster qui ont à eux-seuls remportés 13 des 27 championnats disputés. - Il campionato irlandese di rugby a 15 è l'insieme dei tornei di rugby a 15 istituiti dalla Irish Rugby Football Union, organismo che ha competenza gestionale della disciplina su tutta l'isola d'Irlanda, ivi comprendendo quindi sia la Repubblica che l'Irlanda del Nord, quest'ultima appartenente amministrativamente al Regno Unito. Il campionato fu istituito nel 1990 e nel corso del tempo ha assunto i nomi delle aziende sponsor della manifestazione e più precisamente:
* dal 1992 al 1998 Insurance Corporation League - sponsorizzata dalla Insurance Corporation;
* dal 1998 al 2010 AIB League - sponsorizzata dalla Allied Irish Banks;
* dal 2010 Ulster Bank League - sponsorizzata dalla Ulster Bank. I vincitori di tale torneo si fregiano del titolo di campioni d'Irlanda; alla stagione 2013-14 si sono tenute 24 edizioni del torneo; la squadra che vanta il maggior numero di campionati vinti è lo Shannon con 9 (l'ultimo nel 2009); a seguire il Cork Constitution con 4 (l'ultimo nel 2010).
