- Der G7-Gipfel in London 1977 fand am 7. und 8. Mai 1977 statt. Es war die zweite Zusammenkunft der Gruppe der Sieben, die aus dem Treffen der Gruppe der Sechs in Rambouillet 1975 hervorgegangen war. Als Tagungsstätte diente 10 Downing Street (Amtssitz des britischen Premierministers) in der Innenstadt Londons (Vereinigtes Königreich). - The 3rd G7 Summit was held in London, United Kingdom between 7–8 May 1977. The venue for the summit meetings was the British Prime Minister's official residence at No. 10 Downing Street in London. The Group of Seven (G7) was an unofficial forum which brought together the heads of the richest industrialized countries: France, West Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada (since 1976) and the President of the European Commission (starting officially in 1981). The summits were not meant to be linked formally with wider international institutions; and in fact, a mild rebellion against the stiff formality of other international meetings was a part of the genesis of cooperation between France's President Giscard d'Estaing and West Germany's Chancellor Helmut Schmidt as they conceived the first Group of Six (G6) summit in 1975. This was the initial meeting in which the President of the European Commission was formally invited to take a part. (en)
