- The 2018 FIM MotoGP World Championship was the premier class of the 70th F.I.M. Road Racing World Championship season. Marc Márquez entered the season as the reigning champion, with Repsol Honda being the reigning team champions and Honda the reigning constructors' champions. Originally scheduled for 19 races, the season was reduced by one Grand Prix due to the cancellation of the 26 August Silverstone event due to unsafe track conditions involving standing water after a rider vote. Marc Márquez clinched the championship trophy on 21 October 2018 after sixteen rounds, winning three consecutive races during spring, another three consecutive races during autumn and nine overall. Andrea Dovizioso finished in second and Valentino Rossi ended up in third, the former with four wins, while Rossi did not record a race win. Jorge Lorenzo with three wins and a win apiece for Cal Crutchlow and Maverick Viñales were the other race winners. Yamaha suffered their worst winless streak in their history with no wins for 25 races, which lasted from the 2017 German Grand Prix until Viñales won the Australian Grand Prix. KTM got their first podium finish at the Valencian Grand Prix with Pol Espargaro, finishing in third. (en)

Por primera vez en 70 años de historia el campeonato tuvo 19 rondas, convirtiéndose en la temporada más larga de la historia hasta la fecha. La categoría mayor fue ganada por Marc Márquez tras el Gran Premio de Japón a falta de tres fechas por terminar la temporada. (es)

Het kampioenschap bestond in 2018 uit de klassen MotoGP, Moto2 en Moto3. De eerste race van het seizoen werd verreden op 18 maart op het Losail International Circuit in Qatar. De seizoensafsluiter op 18 november werd traditiegetrouw verreden op het Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia. (nl)
- Motocyklowe Mistrzostwa Świata 2018 – 70. sezon w historii MMŚ. W poprzednim sezonie najlepszym zawodnikiem klasy MotoGP był Hiszpan Marc Márquez. Mistrzem Moto2 został Włoch, Franco Morbidelli, natomiast zwycięzcą kategorii Moto3 został również Hiszpan Joan Mir. Pierwotnie zaplanowany na 19 wyścigów, sezon został zmniejszony o jedno Grand Prix w związku z odwołaniem 26 sierpnia wyścigu w Silverstone z powodu niebezpiecznych warunków na torze ze stojącą wodą, po głosowaniu zawodników. Po szesnastej rundzie Marc Márquez zdobył tytuł mistrza MotoGP. Po 19 wyścigu zostaje z dziewięcioma zwycięstwami w klasyfikacji generalnej. Andrea Dovizioso skończył drugi z czterema zwycięstwami. Valentino Rossi był trzeci, pozostał bez zwycięstwa. Pozostałymi zwycięzcami byli: Jorge Lorenzo - 3 oraz Cal Crutchlow i Maverick Viñales po 1.
