- The 2017 Rugby Europe Women's Sevens Grand Prix Series was the top level of international women's rugby sevens competitions organised by Rugby Europe during 2017. The series featured two tournaments, one hosted in Malemort and one hosted in Kazan. Russia won both tournaments and finished as overall champions. Ireland finished third in both tournaments and finished as the series runners–up. The series also served as a 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens qualifier and Ireland qualified for the World Cup based on their performances in the series. Sweden and the Netherlands were relegated to the 2018 Trophy series. (en)

- Mistrzostwa Europy w Rugby 7 Kobiet 2017 – piętnaste mistrzostwa Europy w rugby 7 kobiet, oficjalne międzynarodowe zawody rugby 7 o randze mistrzostw kontynentu organizowane przez Rugby Europe mające na celu wyłonienie najlepszej żeńskiej reprezentacji narodowej w tej dyscyplinie sportu w Europie. Zostały rozegrane w formie pięciu turniejów w trzech hierarchicznie ułożonych dywizjach w okresie od 10 czerwca do 22 lipca 2017 roku. W walce o tytuł mistrzowski brało udział dwanaście zespołów, pozostałe europejskie drużyny, które przystąpiły do rozgrywek, występowały w niższych dywizjach, pomiędzy wszystkimi trzema istnieje system awansów i spadków. Zawody służyły również jako europejska eliminacja do Pucharu Świata 2018 oraz drugi etap kwalifikacji do turnieju rugby 7 na Letnich Igrzyskach Olimpijskich 2020. W obu turniejach GPS niepokonane były reprezentantki Rosji, które obroniły tym samym tytuł sprzed roku. Kolejne trzy zespoły w klasyfikacji generalnej uzyskały tę samą liczbę punktów turniejowych i o ich końcowej lokacie decydował bilans zdobytych i straconych w obu turniejach punktów – dzięki niemu Irlandia wyprzedziła Francję i Anglię. Awans do najwyższej klasy rozgrywkowej zyskały Szkotki i Niemki, zaś do Trophy promowane zostały Norwegia i Austria. Wszystkie turnieje były transmitowane w Internecie. Awans na Puchar Świata 2018 uzyskały Irlandia i Anglia, które już przed rozpoczęciem zawodów były upatrywane w roli faworytów do dwóch przyznanych Europie miejsc. (pl)
