  • Do soutěže mužské dvouhry na tenisovém turnaji Open 13 2016 nastoupilo dvacet osm hráčů. Obhájcem titulu byl francouzský tenista Gilles Simon, kterého v úvodním kole vyřadil ruský hráč Teimuraz Gabašvili. Vítězem dvouhry se stal nenasazený Nick Kyrgios, jenž ve finále zdolal turnajovou čtverku Marina Čiliće po dvousetovém průběhu 6–2 a 7–6. V probíhající sezóně si tak připsal premiérové turnajové vítězství, které představovalo jeho vůbec první singlový titul na okruhu ATP Tour. Po utkání během slavnostním ceremoniálu uvedl Australan: „Poprvé jsem si ve finále zahrál loni a věřil jsem v první titul. Ale tady jsem opravdu nečekal, že vyhraju turnaj poté, co jsem několik týdnů nehrál. Ovšem od prvního kola jsem začal hrát opravdu dobře a s každým vyhraným zápasem jsem získával sebedůvěru.“ Chorvat prohrál i druhé finále, které v Marseille odehrál, když v roce 2011 nestačil na Švéda Robina Söderlinga. Během ceremoniálu pak ještě zhodnotil zápas: „Myslím, že hrál dnes dobře, opravdu dobře. Úžasně podával, bylo pro mě velmi těžké vracet míčky zpět do kurtu i během výměn. Navíc i dobře returnoval, hlavně v prvním setu. Nedokázal jsem se dostatečně přizpůsobit míčkům, které mi vracel.“ (cs)
