The 2001-02 Heineken Cup was the seventh edition of the Heineken Cup. Competing teams from France, Ireland, Italy, Wales, England and Scotland, were divided into six pools of four, in which teams played home and away matches against each other. The pool winners and two best runners-up qualified for the knock-out stages. Leicester Tigers won the cup, securing back-to-back titles and a third straight victory for the Midlands.

  • La Coupe d'Europe de rugby 2001-2002 réunit des clubs Irlandais, Italiens, écossais, Anglais, Gallois, et Français. Les formations s'affrontent dans une première phase de poules, puis par élimination directe. En matches de poules, 2 points sont accordés pour une victoire et 1 pour un nul. Les premiers de chaque poules sont qualifiés pour les quarts de finale, ainsi que les deux meilleurs deuxièmes. Cette édition offre une nouvelle fois une compétition très équilibrée avec 4 nations différentes dans le dernier carré. La finale a lieu au Millennium Stadium à Cardiff le 25 mai 2002 et voit s'affronter les anglais des Leicester Tigers, tenant du titre, et les irlandais du Munster. Mais ce n'est pas encore la bonne année pour la province irlandaise qui s'incline pour la deuxième fois en finale de la compétition. C'est donc la première fois dans l'histoire de la compétition qu'une équipe conserve son titre deux années de suite. CA Brive avait échoué dans cette tentative à la dernière marche en 1997. Les Leicester Tigers deviennent par la même occasion l'équipe la plus titrée puisqu'ils sont les seuls double détenteurs du trophée. (fr)

Das Finale fand am 25. Mai 2002 vor 74. 000 Zuschauern im Millennium Stadium in Cardiff statt. Pokalsieger wurden zum zweiten Mal in Folge die Leicester Tigers aus England, die im Finale die irische Mannschaft Munster Rugby schlugen. Die Teilnehmer wurden in sechs Gruppen mit je vier Mannschaften eingeteilt. Jede Mannschaft spielte je ein Heim- und ein Auswärtsspiel gegen die drei Gruppengegner. Für das Viertelfinale qualifizierten sich die sechs Gruppensieger und die zwei besten Gruppenzweiten. (de)
