- To 1982 διοργανώθηκε το 33ο Παγκόσμιο Πρωτάθλημα της Φόρμουλα 1. Τα δεκαέξι της σαιζόν ξεκίνησαν στις 24 Ιανουαρίου στη Νότια Αφρική και ολοκληρώθηκαν στις 26 Σεπτεμβρίου στο Λας Βέγκας των Ηνωμένων Πολιτειών. Νικητής στους οδηγούς αναδείχθηκε ο Κέκε Ρόσμπεργκ με Γουίλιαμς και στους κατασκευαστές η Φερράρι, μολονότι έχασε από ατυχήματα και τους δύο οδηγούς, με τους οποίους είχε ξεκινήσει τη χρονιά. Η διοργάνωση σημαδεύθηκε από τρία γεγονότα:
* Η αλλαγή στους κανονισμούς για τις άδειες και τα των οδηγών, οδήγησε τους περισσότερους σε κήρυξη απεργίας την παραμονή του εναρκτήριου γκραν-πρι με πρωτοβουλία του Νίκι Λάουντα. Οι απεργοί έμειναν κλεισμένοι σε μια αίθουσα όλο το βράδυ με τον Έλιο ντε Άντζελις να δίνει πιάνου, απειλώντας ότι δε θα έβγαιναν στον αγώνα, εάν οι ομάδες δεν υπόσχονταν επαναδιαπραγμάτευση των νέων κανονισμών. Οι τελευταίες αποδέχθηκαν το αίτημα αλλά ενώ διεξαγόταν η κούρσα, ανακοίνωσαν πως ακυρώνουν τις άδειες όσων είχαν συμμετάσχει στην απεργία. Αυτό οδήγησε σε νέα απεργία, εξ' αιτίας της οποίας ματαιώθηκε το γκραν-πρι της Αργεντινής. Τελικά η ακύρωση μετατράπηκε σε χρηματικό πρόστιμο και ποινή ενός αγώνα, αλλά με αναστολή.
* Οι Ρόζμπεργκ και Πικέ ακυρώθηκαν αναδρομικά στο γκραν-πρι της Βραζιλίας, λόγω έμμεσης παραβίασης των κανονισμών για το ελάχιστο επιτρεπόμενο βάρος των μονοθεσίων τους. Καθώς η απόφαση ανακοινώθηκε λίγες μέρες πριν το γκραν-πρι του Αγίου Μαρίνου, πολλές ομάδες δεν συμμετείχαν στον αγώνα σε ένδειξη διαμαρτυρίας.
* Προς το τέλος του γκραν-πρι του Αγίου Μαρίνου, καθώς τα δύο μονοθέσια της Φερράρι με τους Βιλνέβ και Πιρονί όδευαν προς τη νίκη με πολύ μεγάλη διαφορά, οι τεχνικοί διέταξαν τους οδηγούς να χαμηλώσουν ταχύτητα για να μην ξεμείνουν από καύσιμα. Όμως αντί να ελαττώσει, ο Πιρονί προσπέρασε τον ομόσταυλό του και κέρδισε την κούρσα. Ο Βιλνέβ ορκίστηκε να μην του ξαναμιλήσει ποτέ και δυστυχώς αποδείχθηκε προφητικός: δύο εβδομάδες αργότερα, στα προκριματικά του Βελγικού γκραν-πρι, πηγαίνοντας να προσπεράσει το μονοθέσιο το οποίο οδηγούσε ο Γεμανός Γιόχεν Μας, συγκρόυστηκε μαζί του και σκοτώθηκε. Ο Πιρονί συνέχισε τις καλές εμφανίσεις, αλλά ο χαρακτήρας του μετά το θάνατο του Βιλνέβ είχε αλλάξει. Σε μια απερίσκεπτη ενέργεια στα προκριματικά του δυτικογερμανικού γκραν πρι, ενώ είχε ήδη εξασφαλίσει την pole position, συγκρούστηκε με τον Αλαίν Προστ. * Races by venue The 1982 FIA Formula One World Championship was the 36th season of FIA Formula One motor racing. It included two competitions run over the course of the year, the 33rd Formula One World Championship for Drivers and the 25th Formula One World Championship for Constructors. The season featured sixteen rounds between 23 January and 25 September. The Drivers' Championship was won by Keke Rosberg and the Constructors' Championship by Scuderia Ferrari. The championship started with a drivers' strike at the season opener in South Africa and saw a partial-race boycott as part of the ongoing FISA–FOCA war at the San Marino Grand Prix. Eventual champion Rosberg won only one race during the season – the Swiss Grand Prix – but consistency gave him the Drivers' Championship, five points clear of Pironi and John Watson. Rosberg was the second driver to win the championship having won only one race in the season, after Mike Hawthorn in 1958. Eleven drivers from seven teams won a race during the season, no driver winning more than twice; there was a run of nine different winners in nine consecutive races from the Monaco Grand Prix to the Swiss Grand Prix. Ferrari, who replaced Villeneuve with Patrick Tambay and Pironi with 1978 World Champion Mario Andretti, managed to score enough points to secure the Constructors' Championship, finishing with five more points than second-placed McLaren while Renault came third. Two drivers died during 1982: Gilles Villeneuve during qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix and Riccardo Paletti at the start of the Canadian Grand Prix. Championship front-runner Didier Pironi also suffered a career-ending accident while qualifying for the German Grand Prix. These incidents and several other major and often violent accidents led to regulation changes to increase driver safety for the 1983 season. Motorsport journalist Nigel Roebuck later wrote that 1982 was "an ugly year, pock-marked by tragedy, by dissension, by greed, and yet, paradoxically, it produced some of the most memorable racing ever seen". The 1982 season was also the end of an era where 1 to 2 or more F1 drivers were killed every year. From 1983 to the present day only 4 drivers were killed in Grand Prix events and Grand Prix test sessions: Elio de Angelis at a test at Paul Ricard in 1986, Ayrton Senna and Roland Ratzenberger at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix during the race and Saturday qualifying respectively, and Jules Bianchi during the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix. The first ever car made entirely of carbon fibre was introduced by McLaren in 1981, and from this year onward saw more and more teams begin to use this technology, and effectively every team was using it by the 1985 season. Circuits also became safer and other circuits that were not able or the owners of said circuits that were unable or unwilling to make them safer were dropped. It was also the last time that the season started early in the year (in the month of January), from 1983 season onwards all seasons always started a little later, in March or April (with the exception of the 2020 season); on the other hand, it was also the last time the season ended a little early (in the month of September), also from 1983 onwards all seasons always ended later, at least in October or November. La saison 1982 est une saison dramatique particulièrement agitée ; les pilotes se mettent en grève dès le premier Grand Prix, à Kyalami, pour marquer leur opposition à la super-licence de la FISA puis une partie des constructeurs boycotte le Grand Prix de Saint-Marin, quatrième course de la saison. Gilles Villeneuve se tue au volant le 8 mai, lors des essais du Grand Prix de Belgique à Zolder, alors qu'il chassait la pole position en plein conflit avec Didier Pironi son coéquipier chez Ferrari. Ce dernier est victime d'un grave accident qui met un terme à sa carrière en Formule 1 le 7 août, pendant les essais du Grand Prix d'Allemagne à Hockenheim, alors qu'il est en tête du championnat du monde. Par ailleurs, à Montréal, le 13 juin, le pilote italien Riccardo Paletti meurt au volant de son Osella lors de la procédure de départ. Le championnat est d'abord mené par Alain Prost, vainqueur des deux premiers Grands Prix sur Renault, puis par le pilote McLaren John Watson, qui réalise l'exploit de s'imposer à Detroit après être parti de la dix-septième place sur la grille, et ensuite par Didier Pironi y compris après son accident. Enfin, Keke Rosberg, grâce à sa régularité au volant de sa Williams, passe en tête du classement sans avoir gagné la moindre course, puis consolide son avance en s'imposant pour la première fois de sa carrière à Dijon-Prenois lors du Grand Prix de Suisse. Il est sacré avec cinq points d'avance sur Pironi et Watson au terme d'une saison où onze pilotes et six écuries différentes se sont imposés à l'arrivée des seize Grands Prix et où aucun n'a compté plus de deux victoires. Grâce à Gilles Villeneuve, Didier Pironi, puis Patrick Tambay et Mario Andretti, Ferrari remporte le titre constructeurs avec cinq points d'avance sur McLaren. (fr)

- Het Formule 1-seizoen 1982 was het 33ste FIA Formula One World Championship seizoen. Het begon op 23 januari en eindigde op 25 september na zestien races. Bijtanken werd toegestaan tijdens een race en moest dus tijdens de pitstop gebeuren. Dit werd 2 jaar zo gedaan (tot en met 1984), waarna het weer voor 9 jaar verboden werd omwille van veiligheidsreden. Vanaf 1994 mocht er opnieuw worden bijgetankt. In het seizoen 2010 werd opnieuw besloten het bijtanken te schrappen tijdens de race.
* Keke Rosberg werd wereldkampioen met slechts één overwinning.
* Maar liefst elf coureurs van zeven verschillende teams wonnen een Grand Prix en geen enkele coureur won meer dan twee races.
* Gilles Villeneuve vond de dood bij een ongeluk in de kwalificatie van de Grand Prix van België.
* Riccardo Paletti was de laatste coureur die bij een ongeluk tijdens een race om het leven kwam, voor Roland Ratzenberger en Ayrton Senna. (nl)

La stagione fu funestata dagli incidenti mortali del pilota canadese della Ferrari, Gilles Villeneuve, nel corso delle qualifiche del Gran Premio del Belgio, e del pilota italiano Riccardo Paletti, della Osella, alla partenza del Gran Premio del Canada. Un altro grave incidente occorse all'altro pilota della Ferrari, il francese Didier Pironi, durante le qualifiche del Gran Premio di Germania, a seguito del quale il francese fu costretto all'abbandono delle competizioni automobilistiche. - A Temporada de Fórmula 1 de 1982 foi a 33.ª realizada pela FIA, decorrendo entre 24 de janeiro e 26 de setembro de 1982, com dezesseis corridas. Marcou a despedida da fornecedora de pneus Avon da categoria. As equipes Ferrari e McLaren voltaram a conseguir bons resultados na temporada 1982 de Fórmula 1. A escuderia de Maranello (Ferrari) faturou o título de construtores enquanto a equipe inglesa (McLaren) obteve o vice-campeonato. Já o campeonato de pilotos ficou com o finlandês Keke Rosberg, da equipe Williams. Vencedor de apenas uma prova ele levou o título pela consistência de seus resultados. Os pilotos Nelson Piquet e Carlos Reutemann, que disputaram de forma acirradíssima o campeonato do ano anterior, amargaram uma péssima temporada na qual o brasileiro Piquet com muitos abandonos devido a falhas mecânicas, ficou apenas no 11º lugar e o argentino Reutemann, onde participou em apenas duas corridas, em 15º. No entanto, o ano foi palco de muitas tragédias dentro das pistas. O piloto canadense Gilles Villeneuve morreu durante o treino de classificação para o GP da Bélgica. Já o italiano Riccardo Paletti perdeu a vida após colidir com o carro do francês Didier Pironi no GP do Canadá. Apesar de ter sobrevivido, Pironi – que era companheiro de Villeneuve – sofreu outro acidente no GP da Alemanha onde ficou gravemente ferido e abandonou a Fórmula 1.
