Zacharo is a town and municipality in southwestern Greece. Administratively, it belongs to the Elis peripheral unit, in the Periphery of West Greece. Zacharo is situated on the Ionian Sea coast, in the area of the Gulf of Kyparissia. The town is crossed by the highway named GR-9/E55, that links Patras with Kalamata. Distance from Athens is 280 km, and Zacharo lies 32 km SE of Pyrgos, about 17 km S of Krestena, 24 km SW of Olympia, about 30 km north of Kyparissia and 90 km NW of Kalamata.

Der an der Westküste der Peloponnes am ionischen Meer gelegene Ort konnte seit den 1980er-Jahren starkes Bevölkerungswachstum verzeichnen. Die Gemeinde wurde 1947 als Stadtgemeinde(dimos) anerkannt und mehrfach durch Eingemeindungen vergrößert, zuletzt 2011, als die Nachbargemeinde Figalia zu Zacharo kam. Bekannt ist der Ort auch für seine Thermalquellen an der Lagune von Kaiafas, die bereits in der Antike bekannt waren. Die Schwefelquellen wurden unter anderem zur Behandlung von Hautkrankheiten und Arthritis aufgesucht. Der touristische Schwerpunkt liegt heute jedoch auf dem Sommertourismus entlang des sandigen Küstenstreifens. Ein kurzes Stück landeinwärts wurden um 1910 von Wilhelm Dörpfeld die Überreste einer mykenischen Siedlung ausgegraben. Durch die verheerenden Waldbrände im August 2007 erlangte der Ort überregionale Bekanntheit. Einige Dörfer in der Gemeinde wurden dabei vollständig zerstört, es kamen über 30 Personen ums Leben.
