- The Yorkshire Post is a daily broadsheet newspaper, published in Leeds, England by Yorkshire Post Newspapers, a company owned by Johnston Press. The paper was founded in 1754, as the Leeds Intelligencer, making it one of Britain's first daily newspapers. The Leeds Intelligencer was a weekly newspaper until it was given its current name and was published daily in 1866. The Yorkshire Post currently employs over 1000 people; over the last few years many people have been made redundant due to the new structure of the company. Over 20 papers are issued from the Leeds site; these titles include the Metro, Pudsey Times, Yorkshire Evening Post. It regards itself as a national broadsheet, rather than a local news carrier, and its masthead carries the slogan "Yorkshire's National Newspaper". Its focus on international and national news gives it a wider focus than that usually associated with a provincial newspaper; editions are available throughout the United Kingdom. It is generally considered to be on the right of the political spectrum, supporting the Conservative Party (indeed its owners used to be known as Yorkshire Conservative Newspapers Limited until the 1960s) and bitterly opposing the ban on hunting. The first issue of the Yorkshire Post, on 2 July 1866 (after the change of title from the Intelligencer), included the following statement:
- Yorkshire Post är en tidning utgiven i Leeds, Storbritannien, grundad 2 juli 1754 som Leedes Intelligencer. Tidningen ägs av Johnston Press plc och är konservativ.
