- YULBlog is an association of blogs based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It has a Web site with a list of those blogs, as well as a "meta blog" that aggregates the blog posts from YULBlog members. It takes its name from YUL, the airport code for Pierre Elliot Trudeau International Airport in Montreal. The organization hosts monthly face-to-face meetings, called "First Wednesday," in which Montreal area bloggers and people interested in social media get together at a popular mid-town bar. The first YULBlog meeting was held in March 2000. At that meeting were Ed Bilodeau, Michael Boyle, Heather Champ, Aaron Straup Cope, and David Petite. YULBlog has been in continuous existence, in one form or another, since that gathering in 2000, making it the longest continuously running "geo-specific" blogger association in the world (unconfirmed). Other, more recent associations have used YULBlog as a model, such as YULBiz and Paris Carnet. Face-to-face meetings continue to occur on the first Wednesday of every month at La Quincaillerie, a bar in The Plateau Mont-Royal neighbourhood of Montreal. The event draws between 30 and 80 people each month. A spinoff of YULBlog is YULBiz, for people interested in the business and professional aspects of blogging and social media. YULBiz started in Montreal, but considers itself to be an international organization.
