Any attempts to make this schedule serial would give off two different results (either T1's version of A/B is shown, or T2's version of A and B is shown), and would not be the same as the above schedule. This schedule would not be serializable. Strict 2PL, overcomes this inconsistency by locking T1 out from B. Unfortunately, deadlocks are something Strict 2PL does not overcome all the time.

Lorsque deux transactions modifient la même information, les modifications de la première peuvent être recouvertes immédiatement par celles de la seconde si aucune précaution n'est prise contre ce problème; on dit que les mises à jour effectuées par la première transaction ont été perdues. Ce problème peut se poser indépendamment de la forme que revêtent les informations partagées, qu'elles soient dans un fichier, dans une table de base de données ou en mémoire partagée entre plusieurs threads.
