Canon William Murrell Lummis, MC, (Coddenham, Suffolk, on 4 June 1886, died 2 November 1985, aged 99) was the son of an undertaker. He was first a professional soldier in the British Army; then later a Church of England clergyman. He is best known as a military historian, for the research he undertook on the Victoria Cross, the Charge of the Light Brigade and Rorke's Drift.
