- The William J. Clinton Presidential Center and Park includes the Clinton presidential library and the offices of the Clinton Foundation and the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service, established by Bill Clinton, the 42nd President of the United States. Located within a newly built Little Rock, Arkansas city park, the facility, designed by architect James Polshek and museum design firm Ralph Appelbaum Associates, cantilevers over the Arkansas River, echoing Clinton's campaign promise of "building a bridge to the 21st century. " While the physical building is the second-largest presidential library after the Ronald Reagan Library, the archives of the Clinton Library are the largest, containing two million photographs, 80 million pages of documents, 21 million e-mail messages, and nearly 80,000 artifacts from the Clinton presidency. The museum showcases artifacts from Clinton's term and includes full-scale replicas of the Clinton-era Oval Office and Cabinet Room. The Clinton School of Public Service is also located on the site. The park is a leading example of urban renewal. It was built on the site of abandoned railroad tracks of the defunct Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad. The public service school is housed in a former passenger train terminal. A railroad bridge across the Arkansas River, leading to North Little Rock, is in the process of being converted into a pedestrian bridge, although the project has been delayed several times. The library also incorporates aspects of environmentally-sensitive design, earning it a LEED Platinum rating by the US Green Building Council. Opened on November 18, 2004, the Clinton Presidential Center cost $165 million to construct and covers 150,000 square feet (14,000 m²) within a 28-acre (113,000 m²) park. - Das William J. Clinton Presidential Center & Park ist Teil der William J. Clinton Foundation (Stiftung) und beinhaltet vor allem die Präsidentenbibliothek von Bill Clinton, dem 42. Präsidenten der USA. Der Gebäudekomplex wurde für 165 Millionen Dollar in einem Park in Little Rock, Arkansas angelegt und am 18. November 2004 im Beisein von US-Präsident George W. Bush sowie den Ex-Präsidenten Carter und Bush sen. eröffnet. Das Design der Architekten James Polshek und Richard Olcott soll das Anliegen Clintons widerspiegeln, eine Brücke ins 21. Jahrhundert zu schlagen. Dementsprechend wurde eine Konstruktion aus Glas in die Anlage integriert, die eine Brücke über den Arkansas River andeuten soll. Die Bibliothek, zu der auch ein Museum gehört, beherbergt fast 2 Millionen Fotografien, 76 Millionen Seiten an Büchern und Dokumenten, 21 Millionen E-Mails und 80.000 Geschenke oder sonstige Gegenstände aus Clintons Präsidentschaft. Die Besucher können sich detailliert und multimedial über die Amtszeit und die Biographie des Präsidenten informieren und dabei auch maßstabsgetreue Nachbildungen des Oval Office sowie des Kabinettssaales besichtigen. Neben der Bibliothek und dem Museum sind auch die Büros der Clinton-Stiftung und die University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service auf dem insgesamt 12 Hektar großen parkartig angelegten Areal untergebracht. Der Stadt Little Rock bescherten der Ex-Präsident und der Bau der für ihre Architektur gefeierten Bibliothek einen kräftigen Anstieg der Investitionen und des Tourismus.
